Reception 2019 - 2020
Dear Reception Parents and children
I hope that you are all keeping well and safe during this difficult lock down period.
A big thank you to parents that have been keeping in touch via Tapestry and email. It is great to hear and see how you are doing and I look forward to seeing more please.
This week I am going to focus on short activities around the story of The Three Little Pigs. Please see the suggested daily timetable for learning and relevant links/resources below. I have uploaded some of the videos to make it a little easier for the children to access them on there own.
Each Monday I will post two short phonics videos to continue your child's learning. I will teach the rest of the sounds that should be learnt by the end of Reception.
I would also like to get the children involved in voting for a story which I will read with my dogs every Friday. All you have to do is to send me an email or message on Tapestry to say which book your child would like me to read. The book with the most votes will be read. Please have a look at the books below.
If you would like to get in touch with me please do. I am happy to help anytime.
Please email the following address:
Phonics lesson 1 - ay
Here is our first on line phonics lesson. I am going to teach one new sound a week along with some speedy words. Your child may have learnt this sound before. If so please treat it as revision. I know that the children need lots of repetition in order to remember their sounds. Please try to practise reading the sound and words daily.
Practise reading these words . Try to learn to read these words so you don't need to Fred talk.
Here are a few ideas if your child needs a further challenge:
They can practise writing words with 'ay' in.
They can write a sentence using an 'ay' word. Eg The cat lay on the tray.
They can look for ay words in their reading/ story books.
We have two new websites for you to access with your child.
This is a music website where you can access lots of music and songs to sing along to. Click on songs for 3 to 5 year olds to get started with. You could try and learn a new song as a family. ( Please remember to send any videos to Tapestry.)
